October 14th - 18th weekly review

I'm behind again. A week behind. . . . .

BUT.............I do have a lot of pictures to share from last week.

So much as gone on since last week I dont remember in enough detail what all we worked on. I'll have to let the pictures do the talking.

Thomas working on his cursive writing.

Here's the product of his hard work. {yes, I see the word spelled wrong at the bottom}.
Thomas seeing if the desk is longer or shorter than a meter.

Thomas circled the perpendicular lines on Fred's face.

In All About Spelling, we went over when to use the letter {c} and {k}.

Nathaniel taking his math test.

This is a typical day's work for Nathaniel. He has a worksheet, and his reading book.

Sarah worked on the letter O this week.  She helped the otter find his home in this activity.

Sarah working on her poke page.
Sarah colored a page with her "special" markers.

Working on the O puzzle.

Sarah enjoyed this number game. I put different numbers in the box and Sarah had to fill the space with the number of "babies" in the box.

Sarah filled the O with O stickers. This always keeps my kids busy for a while.

More sticker art for Sarah.

Sarah is serious when it comes to cutting. She holds the scissors wrong, and will not hold them the right way.

Sarah loves the magnet page!!

I printed 2 of these and Sarah chose to paint this letter O.

Sarah's do a dot 3 page.

Sarah sorted and glued the pieces all by herself. She's very independent and loves work that she can do alone.

Hattie LOVES blocks, any and all blocks.

Hattie was proud of her sticker art, too!

October 7th-11th Weekly Review

Another week has ended, the days are going by slowly but the weeks are going by too fast! How is that even possible?

This week we finally got around to doing to last two projects for the sun in our Apologia Astronomy. The first project was to make a solar eclipse. This was an awesome visual project for the kids.

The dark circle and the fuzzy circle around the dark circle is where you would be able to see the eclipse.

The 2nd project was to make a sun viewing box. They wanted their daddy to help with this and I'm glad he did, because I was a little bit confused on how it all went together.
Thomas found the sun in the box!!

Thomas finished his Dolphin Adventure book, and is now reading Stone Fox. This book is an adventure book, but its more of a mystery to us. We are anxious to keep reading to find out why the Grandpa is so sad.
He is skipping around in his Singapore Math book since he is still reviewing. And he still LOVES Life of Fred. I have to admit, its better than I had imagined.
In language arts, he's learned all the capitalization rules, and now moving to period rules. He's also learning about different types of nouns.

Nathaniel is moving along in his phonics/reading. He's on his 3rd reading book and is reading more quickly. He's almost ready for his test in Math U See on the color blocks.

Nathaniel coloring in the astronomy book while I read.

We STILL didn't get Sarah's work printed so she's been playing with Hattie and listening to what I read the boys.

September 30th-October 4th Weekly Review

*We had special meetings at church last week, and I got too busy/tired to update the blog*

****************************************

Things we've been slack on the past couple of weeks:

The Prairie Primer: We've taken a short break after reading the 1st book. The main reason is because we have a LOT on our plate{s} right now. We are almost finished with the Abeka science, health, and history and that will give us more time during the day. Hopefully next week, we'll start the 2nd Little House book.

Sarah's schooling: Daniel {my husband} prints off Sarah's school work for me, and I didnt give him the flash drive to have it printed. I've been just letting her play!!

Apologia Astromomy: We've been working on this, but we still havent finished the last 2 projects on the sun.

****************************************

What we have been working on:

Thomas:
Thomas worked on all his work but I'll just post the fun stuff!

Thomas started a new reading genre: Adventure. To kick off his reading he had a little scavenger hunt. He LOVES these hunts and asks every once in a while to do one. This one caught him completely by surprise.

These are the cards I made up for the hunt and his 2 books for adventure.

This is a worksheet that goes along with Thomas's reading.
Thomas pulled another top tooth, this makes 6 total that he's lost.
****************************************

Nathaniel:
Nathaniel worked on his math and reading/phonics this week with no complaints. His math lesson this week{s} is to memorize his color blocks. To be honest, I wasn't sure how long this would take. We've played games and he's done worksheets and he's actually doing well with remembering them.

Nathaniel and Hattie playing with the color blocks.

Well, its sideways...but this is one of his math sheets.

In phonics/reading he's keeping up like a champ. I'm really happy with my choice for his reading/phonics. He likes that the worksheets are different every day and that his books are fun to read. He had a spelling pretest, and passed it with flying colors.

Here he is taking the pretest. He made me a very proud mama!
This is Nathaniel's 2nd reader. He likes the funny story about the cat shaking up the can and getting sprayed.
That's all for last week, now to take pictures and get ready for this week's post!

Family Vacation 2013 Holden Beach

We enjoyed our vacation last year so much that we decided to go back and do it over again this year! We went with the same 2 families back to Holden Beach. We rented a different house this year, and I think we all agreed that this house better fit our needs. Once again, the weather was perfect and we had a great time.

our home for a week

Hattie busted her lip on the 2nd day of vacation

I think the men enjoyed some down time

the boys were together 99% of the time

the boys enjoyed sleeping in

Sarah: "This is the biggest smile in the world."

Thomas caught a tiny fish

We enjoyed spending time with our friends

Sarah trying to save Thomas from this gorilla

Its rare that I get a picture of all 4 kids together

Brave kids LOL

We seen a man struggling with his fishing pole for a good while, and decided to hang around to see what he caught. It was well worth the wait to see this sting ray.

Another man caught this shark and we hung around for a minute while he set it free.
the day we got to the beach we got to see some baby turtles making their way to the ocean

This was taken on the bridge going onto the island

We said goodbye at Cracker Barrel

All the kids together

Thanks for stopping by to hear about our vacation!
